Right. Got myself admin access to the forums, so I've gone on a rampage and redone a lot of permissions for usergroups. Access is now as follows:

Leader: Full access + global moderator
Officers: Access to all normal forums, plus Officer forum, plus read-only on archives
Seniors, Members, Peons: Access to all normal forums.

Non-members, guests, etc.: Access to "General" section only (Welcome and Applications forums)

Ex-guildies etc.: Currently you'll have guess access, but post below and I'll promote you to a custom usergroup so you get the same access as members.

Please let me know if you are having issues with any of this. I will endeavor to fix anything that I can, but it's real hard to know if anything works when you're set to admin =/

Aye, there was a bug for all Seniors. Since I renamed the rank, the permissions didn't pick up. Should be fine now :)

Dhar, I've just added you to the non-guild user group, so you should get access. Let me know if there's a problem as you're the first one in there to test it :)

Can't find any way of renaming an account, and making you sign up again is hassle, so I've added you to the same group as Dhar.

Also added a load of other people who's names I can remember off the top of my head. Keep yelling if I've missed anyone :)

Added Crimsonblade and Bladecrimson to the group.

Gorgar, found the rename tool, you'll probably need to log in again as Kyotee. :)

Nt, added you for access.

Wanna pop a quick thanks to Kardang who (probably unintentionally) helped me find something cool. If you still need access, then go to ucp.php?i=167 (or go to User Control Panel -> User Groups) where you can choose the "Non-guild" group and apply for access. I'll check this on the admin panel a few times a day and approve any who are on there.

Just to point out, there is a reason for doing all this. I just think guild-only forums make more sense than being totally public, but at the same time I figure most ex-guildies are on friendly enough terms to still get access.

Also I booted everyone out of the Officer forum while I was at it, so there's a nice echo in there now. =/

Messed up a setting earlier, thought I'd fixed it. There's z post in General explaining it but I guess that doesn't help.

Will poke settings again in a sec :)

Ok, definately fixed this time. Promise.

Long story short, when editing a forum setting it asks for a password. I thought it wanted an admin password as confirmation that I'm actually an admin and allowed to edit this stuff, but turns out it was for password-restricting access. Then when I tried to remove it I didn't notice you have to tick a little box that says "Remove Password". But all should be well now =)
